Our Story

We Build on Site, Not Just in the Workshop

Simba Umeme is a furniture and interior fit-out business based in Dar es Salaam. We make furniture, doors, wall panelling and fitted joinery to order, and we install what we make.

Most of our work begins with a room that is finished on paper but empty in reality: a new hall, a hotel floor, a house waiting on its doors. We measure it ourselves, set out the timber against the actual walls, and build the detail in place. That is why our patterns line up in corners where drawings usually do not.

What Sets Us Apart

Six Things We Hold To

Not slogans. The things clients actually call us back for.

Real Craftsmanship

Solid hardwood, hand-finished joints and carving done by people who have cut this timber for years.

On-Time Delivery

We give a programme with the quote and we work to it. If something slips, you hear it from us first.

Built to Your Budget

Tell us the number. We will show you what is achievable at that level rather than quote and disappear.

Full Installation

Transport, fixing and finishing included. You are not left to find a fundi to fit what we delivered.

After-Sales Service

Timber moves in the first months. We come back and adjust hinges, catches and fixings when it does.

Honest Pricing

A written quote listing materials, finishes and labour, so you can see what you are paying for.

Our Team

Who You Will Be Dealing With

Simba Umeme runs as a small, direct team. The person who quotes your job is the person who oversees it, and the crew who build it are the crew who install it.

Stephen Benedict Kessy

Managing Director & Furniture Engineer

Stephen leads the business and the workshop. He is the engineer behind the furniture and joinery: he takes the site measurements, sets out the timber, and signs off every piece before it leaves for installation.

Our Workshop

We Cut Our Own Timber

Most joinery businesses in Dar es Salaam buy timber already sawn and sized. We run our own saw benches, planers and thicknessers, which means we select the log, cut it to the section the job needs, and control the grain and colour from the start.

It also means we can hold stock. When a client needs two hundred matching door frames, the timber is already on the ground and seasoning.
